Snow and Weather Incline

Snow and Inclement Weather Policy

Typically, inclement weather will result in one of four approaches to the school day at INTAC:

  • School starts on time,
  • School starts at 9:45 a.m. (2-hour delay), or
  • School is closed for the day.
  • If a storm arrives during the day, INTAC may have to close early to allow people to get home before road conditions get too bad.

For delayed openings and closures, the Head of School aims to decide by 5:30 a.m., if not before. (Sometimes, a delayed opening turns into a closure if conditions do not improve over the course of the early morning.) If a storm is big enough to cause a multi-day closure, INTAC may move to some form of remote learning to keep the students engaged over a longer haul, but that shift will typically not happen right away.

There are times when conditions are generally good enough to open school, but when certain neighborhoods or areas are still dicey. The safety of you and your child(ren) is the most important thing; if school is open and it is still not safe to drive, please keep them at home until it is safe to come to school. Teachers know to be flexible.

Informing the Community About Weather-Related Delays or Closures

If there is a delayed opening or full cancellation, or if there is an early dismissal, INTAC will send notifications to families via email and text (based on the contact information we have in our database).

Information about weather-related delays and closures will also appear in pop-up notifications on INTAC’s website, 12 Watch, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.

If school is opening on time, INTAC does not communicate anything.
