In 1996, a group of parents from the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati (ICGC), motivated by a shared commitment to academic excellence within a faith-based environment, came together to establish a new educational institution. Guided by a philosophy of caring discipline, strong parental involvement, and religious values, their efforts led to the founding of the International Academy of Cincinnati, a full-time, independent private school in West Chester, Ohio. INTAC was registered as a nonprofit organization. The Islamic Educational Council (IEC) leased 2.7 acres of land on the ICGC campus for the school, which opened in 2000 with sixteen preschool and kindergarten students housed temporarily in the ICGC community center while construction was underway. In 2001, the new school building was dedicated, featuring modern classrooms and specialized learning spaces, and enrollment grew steadily as additional grade levels were added each year.
By 2004, student enrollment had more than doubled, and INTAC received a charter for Grades K–8 while maintaining its preschool program. Despite this growth, the school faced a serious financial crisis in 2006. Through the combined efforts of the Board of Trustees, the IEC, and the wider community, the Academy was saved by a transformative donation from philanthropist Mr. El-Sewedy, matched by community fundraising. In recognition of his generosity, the school was renamed El-Sewedy International Academy of Cincinnati in 2007. Today, the Academy follows the Lakota Local School District curriculum while implementing Ohio’s learning standards, offering a comprehensive program that includes arts, technology, physical education, Islamic and Qur’anic studies, and Arabic. Governed by an eleven-member board and supported by an active Parent Teacher Organization, the school reflects the cultural diversity and collaborative spirit of its community.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
At INTAC, and in alignment with our vision of cultivating excellence in faith and education, we strive each day to nurture hearts and minds that learn with faith, grow with truth, and lead with respect—all in the name of Allah (SWT).
We look at every learner in our school as our own child. This perspective fills our work with patience, tolerance, empathy, and deep understanding. It reminds us that our mission is not only to educate, but to inspire, uplift, and guide our learners toward becoming honorable leaders grounded in Islamic values.
May Allah (SWT) bless our efforts and place barakah in every step we take for our children and our community.
Create a wonderful day 🙂
